I know this is often said but not often really meant however I totally mean these words
John was a very kind and extremely generous man and although I did not know him very well he always went out of his way to do anything he could to help you whenever he met you
He was also a man of his word and many years ago I had a "handshake" agreement with John regarding the pair of ploughing engines Linkey and Sevington (We owned one each)
We both agreed that if either of us was to sell one of the engines we would offer it to the other first
Around 2 years ago John contacted me and said that sadly he felt it was time to sell Sevington and so as we had discussed some 20 years ago he was offering the engine for sale to me
I was very pleased to have been asked and was fortunately able to purchase the engine from John
In my ownership the engine will continue to carry John's name in his memory
A true Gentleman
God Rest His Soul
